Paperwork n. 14 — Vesna collection
Painting: Acrylic, Gesso, and Fabric Thread on ARCHES® watercolor paper (300 gsm, 100% cotton, rough texture)
This artwork is part of my Vesna collection, which I named after the Slavic goddess of spring. Every artwork from this collection was made to celebrate the awakening of nature after the winter. Being deeply affected by the changing seasons, the beginning of spring is something that brings me a sense of relief and joy on a personal level. I used materials found in the forest instead of brushes during the creation process. Incorporating a piece of fabric in natural color is intended to evoke naturalness. A piece of mirror, on the other hand, brings the effect of refracting light, as seen in the spring-time nature, when the sun shines onto the artwork. This undoubtedly connected the artworks with the environment, by which they were inspired and which they essentially represent.
