Coloring my world, painting gives me a sense of peace and helps me reflect and process life. My vibrant abstract paintings are inspired by elements in nature such as water, coral reefs, trees, and human connection. Living and teaching in diverse communities around the world, I cultivated a desire for development. This approach is rooted in graduate studies in philosophy and postgraduate studies in literacy, culture, and teaching in San Diego.
With a sense of exploration, each raw expression draws you into a world of emotion. Although I work primarily with acrylic, brushes, and spatulas, I see myself as a free spirit allowing my process and materials to flow naturally. Through abstract expression, I inspire an affective and energetic approach to life.
"An undiscovered, passionate expression of humanity and faith was unleashed when Valentine Svihalek began to paint after the birth of her first child. This brave, playful mama artist turns her vulnerability to color and texture, creating works that are both reminiscent and forward-thinking.” ---Alexandra Meyerowitz, Director of Development, Lux Art Institute San Diego
